My guest post

Hi everybody,
Z from kickingkilos asked me to do a guest post, she emailed me a list of questions all related to my weight loss journey.

1. When and how I decided to lose weight?
2. How did I manage to lose weight?
3. How do I handle social gatherings
4. My advise to anybody starting their journey

I did my best to answer these and loved all the wonderful comments her readers wrote. If you want to have a look you could read my post 'WW#2 Guest Post From Tanvee'

Running after the idea of perfection

Exactly a month and not a single post from me which is very disappointing especially because as usual I have so many things to share...this is not a fitness related post but just a general thought as most of you have noticed my blog updates have become fewer overtime, last I mentioned to you all about working on a creating a website and I am still doing that but it’s not turning out to be as good or as perfect as I want it to be, the result was fewer blog posts and my absence from the blogging world which is really the opposite of what I wanted to do. I wanted to become more regular, share more often and connect more but running after what I think is good enough for my blog has made me actually neglect my blog completely.

In my want create a perfect website I ignored the real reason I wanted a new website. I am missing out on sharing my new fitness adventures with all of you...so I have decided I am back and whenever I manage to finally finish my website I will launch it till then this blog is the place to find me, get ready to see more of my posts and my comments!!!!

On the fitness front I am doing my second round of 6 weeks with Michelle, I am still enjoying my Mauy thai classes, Negative chin ups are still regular in my routine and I am back to hill sprints.

Happy New Year and Quick catch up

December 2014 had a lot of both work and fun, for the first two weeks I was very busy at work then I was on leave so everything balanced out. I had planned not to touch my laptop during my break because otherwise I get pulled into doing things and not relaxing. The entire month of December was about family and friends. We celebrated a quiet Christmas at home but before and after Christmas I have been surrounded by friends.

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary so we took a short trip to York, which was beautiful. December was all about things that make me very happy. I was surrounded by lots of happiness, lots of wonderful people and lots of love
On the workout and eating front I have been good. Though I did injure myself once and I had to change my workouts after that but I have managed to workout 4 – 5 days a week as planned. Not all workouts were gym based some were floor based and in my hotel room. Food wise I managed to stick to my usual party rules (read here). I haven’t gained any weight which is good

For the New Year I have new goals all of them focus on one thing – Improvement. There are some aspects of my life that need big improvements (like my blog, I know I need to become regular and I promise I will) and some aspects of my life that need constant improvement (like my fitness). So this year is all about getting out of my comfort zone and consciously working towards improving and becoming the person I want to be.
This is what I was up to. How was your December? Have you decided your 2015 goals?

Blah day!!!

Some days just don't start right, like today did not start on my usual happy note :( everything seemed to go wrong..I woke up later than I had planned to, my scales were not very friendly and my gym buddy backed out last minute..
So I sat there upset and not feeling very good about myself, I was doubting myself and my fitness journey. I was complaining and then T said to me 'I am surprised at the way you are behaving, you sound just like you used to when you started this journey...' I  needed those exact words because it reminded me how far I have come and that I don't ever want to go back to where I had started. I have come a long way not only with my fitness but also my attitude towards life so when T said it sounds like I am going back to square one I had to stop what I was doing...I had to step away from my own negative thoughts so that I don't go in a downward spiral and that's exactly what I did
I told myself...
It's not easy, It's not supposed to be easy (I can do not easy, I can do it, I can do it, I can do it)
Bad mood, low self confidence can never be my excuse
If the scale is not my friend the gym definitely needs to be my best friend
I love being the consistent one, I love being the one who keeps going and I blindly believe in hard-work for me there is no other way.
After all my self pep talk I got ready to sweat it out. 2 minutes in the gym changes everything for me, my focus shifts from scales to challenging myself. I change from not feeling good about myself to thinking about how to improve and at some point I stop thinking, I only focus on my breathing and how my muscles feel (I can't stress over how much love it!!!)

Anyways workout done I feel so much better and I smile all the way back home :)

Busy...Busy...

Each day of my life is becoming busier than the previous. I am not even sure how this keeps happening to me. I need to figure out a way of organizing and managing my time better. There are so many things I want to do and so many things I am already doing most of the times I feel I am stretched and other times I feel I am not being productive enough..
Anyways on the workout front I am good.. luckily for me it has now become such an integral part of my life that I make time for my workouts. Healthy living is one aspect of my life that I have not comprised on even when I am very busy and even on days when I am very tired my food and workouts are still going as planned.
I start most of my days at the gym - My favorite workout - Legs
The one thing that really suffers the most is my blog. I am going to really start setting a schedule for my blog because I have so much to share and the only way I can do it is by keeping up with my blog.
This week was a long weekend plus we took two days off and also celebrated T's birthday :)

Getting ready for a night out with a few friends
Today I feel we should have taken more time off, even with a small break I have not been able to catch up with my to-do list. Anyways I promise I am going to get back to writing more often.
Brighton - part celebration for T's birthday

Disappointments - How I handle them

There are times when I don’t get the results I expect in my fitness journey. There have been many days when I have been disappointed either with my weight or with the progress I have made and these days can be the worst obstacles...they can be very discouraging
Here’s what I do when I am disappointed to avoid going off track.
  • I ask myself ‘How did I become unhealthy and obese in the first place?’  My answer has always been the same ‘I got obese by making unhealthy choices and by avoiding any sort of workout’. If I keep eating unhealthy and adding calories without really burning them where will these calories go? Over time I have noticed whenever I make healthy food choices and workout I automatically see a change in my weight and my health. It might not reflect as fast as I want it to but it definitely shows
  • Focus on the process. I am very result oriented. I like seeing myself improve but if I only focus on the final result I find it very difficult to stay on track because nobody can see changes every single day. Instead I shift my focus to the process, I focus on sticking to my plan, I focus on making better choices, I focus on how I feel when I exercise. Focusing on small details instead of only my goals keeps me going because those small things also show progress.
  • Another important question I ask myself ‘Are my efforts and goals aligned?’ If I want to run a marathon then I need to train accordingly if my workouts do not include enough running then how will I ever reach my goal?? So whenever I get disappointed because I am not seeing the expected results I go through my workout plan see what I am missing and what needs to be changed.
  • I remind myself all this effort is only for me. The one person who will get a 100 % benefit from me leading a healthy life is me. All the effort I put in has a direct positive effect on my life  I take time to think about other things that have changed for the better in my life because of my changed lifestyle.I have tried so many new things like hanging on monkey bars, jumping over things, wearing different types of clothes for the first time in my life only after I got healthier and none of these were ever in my goal list but they make me so happy.
Just because you don’t see the results you expected from your healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean you are not benefiting from it. Take a closer look and all your disappointments will vanish for sure (mine disappear for sure)
I am slowly getting into strength training to reach my fitness goals
