Go prepared – face your fears

I fear the smallest things and worry a lot about things that you might not give a second thought to.
I used to worry about falling off the tread mill, I would worry about people making fun of me because I jog real slow, I was worried about being the odd one out in my fitness class, even now I get scared to enter the weights section because I feel people will judge me when I walk in.
These were just a few things if you see my entire list you will wonder how I survive and trust me there was a time in my life when doing the smallest thing like going out alone was difficult for me. I would drag T along everywhere I could, otherwise I would just not go. It was a horrible way of living. What did I do? How did I change? How did I manage to fall in love with the tread mill? Or how do I manage to enter the weight section or any of my fitness class --- I go prepared
I think being scared is perfectly fine but giving up on something because I'm scared would be wrong.
Whenever fear sets in I begin with doing lot of research, I browse the internet, talk to people, I try and find out as much as I can and then I make a plan. My plan is very detailed; sometimes I even include different paths in my plan. If a situation goes either way (good or bad) I have a plan to handle it.  When I'm prepared I feel a little more confident.
Just because I have a plan or because I'm prepared doesn't mean I don’t get scared it just means I'm ready to face my fears. My mantra to handle fear:
The more I'm scared, the more detailed plan I make and the more prepared I go’
Hope you find this useful next time you are scared or your fears stop you from doing something

  2. Hi Tanvee! When I started out at the gym, I often practiced a new exercise at home in front of a mirror before ever doing it in the gym. Then I had a chance to iron out the wrinkles before anyone else saw it. It made me feel more confident.

    1. I do the mirror thing also, I always makes sure I know what I'm doing before entering the gym. (though some exercises can't be done at home, for those I go really early in the morning on weekends )

  3. I know that fear well. A lot of times I just went for it without a plan, but there were other times when I would take my time (like trying exercises when the gym would be empty or working out in the women's only section of our gym). Having a plan is definitely a great strategy to help face that fear and continue forward.

    1. I can't seem to handle anything well without a plan, I think too much and worry too much my plans seem to calm me down..I plan, try things at home, try other things in the gym when it is empty...(lot goes on in my life before I actually get over my fear)

  4. Fear is the enemy of the morbidly obese! Just few things I fear:
    - Not being able to fit into an airplane seat so I drive whenever I can get away with it even if it takes me a lot longer
    - Waiting in line at an amusement park attraction with my kids only to find out I can't fit on a ride so I don't take the kids to the amusement park
    - Being judged as lazy because of my appearance so I always make sure I'm more than everyone else (wouldn't be a bad thing if i didn't overdo it so much)

    1. hi, being judged is one of my biggest fears and I work on it everyday, I hope you can find someway of facing your fears, like the airplane seat thing, I would plan 'what if I don’t' fit whom do I have to ask, can I ask before I get on the flight? Whom do I ask and when do I ask so not everybody notices...you know I did not go gocarting for very long because I was scared of not fitting, if only I had faced my
