Zumba - first day, first class

(As promised here's my Zumba experience for you)
I get smile on my face every time I think about my Zumba class...it is so much fun.
By now most of you know Zumba was my first ever fitness class. I knew what Zumba was; it looked like a lot of fun from all the youtube videos that I had viewed. I even went online to find out about people’s Zumba experience, I just wanted to make sure I was prepared and there were no surprises.
I went a little early to the gym just to see who would be joining me, there were so many ladies...all ages, all shapes and sizes...everybody had a big smile on their face...even though I was new all the smiling got me talking to a girl standing next to me and she was new too, so I was not the only one...a little later I met another newbie :)
Once we entered the class I quickly chose a spot in the second last row, just to be a little hidden. The instructor started by introducing himself and cracking a few jokes, he instructed all the newbies to focus only on having FUN, his enthusiasm was contagious...then the music started and I couldn’t help but move along...for the first two songs I was a little all over the place. I just could not coordinate my hands and feet, or my left and rights, only thing I did constantly was SMILE. By the third song the tempo got higher, so more jumps and more dancing. I literally forgot I was there to exercise; it was more like a going for party in your track pants. 45 minutes into the party and it was over, I was sweating and I was so happy.
The entire walk back I had a smile on my face, I felt more confident and the next day I walked into my next class, I have not missed a day of Zumba (even the snow did not stop me)
You should try it, even if you are not a good dancer it’s ok just go and have fun, trust me it’s worth it. Always lifts my mood.

  1. Congrats to your first class. I am so uncoordinated that I just felt like a fool when I did Zumba...and that was in the privacy of my own house!
